Case Manager, Community Engagement (Social Worker or Senior Social Worker)-(230000C6)

The University of Maryland, Baltimore Office of Community Engagement has an opening for a Case Manager (Social Worker or Senior Social Worker) . The Community Engagement Case Manager will assist with advancing UMB as a national model for research universities collaborating with local communities to improve the human condition and serve the public good. The individual in this position will partner with academic and administrative units across the University as well as government, non-profit, and community-based organizations in Baltimore and other locations where UMB has a presence. Close partnerships will be developed with the School of Social Work, the School of Nursing, and the Southwest Partnership.

The Case Manager works under the supervision of a Social Worker (LCSW-C) and applies the theories, knowledge, procedures, methods, and/or ethics derived from a formal educational program in social work to restore or enhance social functioning of individuals, couples, families, groups, organizations or communities through assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation, and advocacy to maximize the individual's well-being.

The Community Engagement Case Manager will be accountable to, and supported by, the Director of Strategic Initiatives and Community Partnerships in the Office of Community Engagement.

Primary Duties - Social Worker:

  • Assess risk by screening and interviewing clients. Identify and construct service plans that best meet the client's needs, and determine best resources available.
  • Develop plans by identifying programs and services available for a variety client issues dealing with challenges, change, and crisis.
  • Maintain case history records and document client(s) progress. May perform chart reviews and generates notes on evaluations, therapy sessions, reports and other accountability measures.
  • Counsel individuals, groups, families, or communities regarding issues including mental health, poverty, unemployment, substance abuse, physical abuse, rehabilitation, social adjustment, child care, and/or medical care in accordance with licensure.
  • Provide training, guidance, and support to others preparing for use of resources.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Counsel individuals, groups, families, or communities regarding issues including mental health, housing, poverty, unemployment, substance abuse, physical abuse, rehabilitation, social adjustment, child care, and/or medical care in accordance with licensure.
  • Provide training, guidance, and support to others preparing for use of resources.
  • Develop and maintain database or another tool to catalog resources available to meet identified needs.
  • Provide field supervision to social work students working in the Office of Community Engagement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications - Social Worker

Education: Master's degree in Social Work.


Preferred Experience: Experience in case management.


Certification/Licensure: Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in the State of Maryland.


Other: No substitution of experience for minimum education requirement.

Qualifications - Senior Social Worker

Education: Master's degree in Social Work.


Experience: One (1) year post-licensure (LCSW) or (LCSW-C) experience in related area of treatment.


Preferred Experience: Experience in case management.


Certification/Licensure: Licensed as (LCSW) or (LCSW-C) in the State of Maryland.


Other: No substitution of experience for minimum education requirement.

Hiring Range (Social Worker): $59,000 - $63,000 (Commensurate with education and experience)

Hiring Range (Senior Social Worker): $66,000 - $71,000 (Commensurate with education and experience)
