The College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at Eastern Oregon University (EOU) invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Political Science to join the Politics, Policy, and Public Administration (PPPA) program during the 2024-2025 academic year.
The ideal candidate will bring general expertise to teach a range of upper and lower division topics within the discipline, including political philosophy, U.S. and comparative governmental systems, political culture, budgetary politics, and other courses within the candidate's field of experience. Opportunity also exists to teach courses in Public Administration and graduate courses in the online MPA program.
Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate competence in teaching students on campus and online, bringing a dynamic, student-centered pedagogy. We seek individuals with a demonstrated commitment to building student agency through high impact pedagogy, making college success possible for at-risk students, and creating inclusive college cultures that represent the values and experiences of all students.
The PPPA program currently offers a baccalaureate major and minor, both online and on campus, both of which serve as prelaw and public policy pathways for EOU students. Political Science courses are an integral component of EOU's general education curriculum, which support the University's commitment to civic engagement within a liberal arts education.
The position is a full-time, nine-month faculty appointment, at the Assistant Professor level. Position reports directly to the Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (AHSS). This is a fixed-term, non tenure-track faculty position, and the duration is expected to be one academic year.
